If you find the IE (Internet Explorer) will not install there are several things to try but I have found the most effective to be:

UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION OF INTERNET EXPLORER:

CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES > on the top left click VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES
Either find INTERNET EXPLORER or just perform a search (top right corner)
Attempt to UNINSTALL the version you have

RUN SYSTEM FILE CHECKER:

Internet Explorer will not finish installation Hi everyone. I tried to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 a few months ago, installation will not finish. I uninstalled IE and restarted. Attemped to re-install windows 11, multiple attempt it says installation will not complete. I made sure all pre-req installations were there. Browsers & Mail. Followed all the instructions in the Internet Explorer Troubleshooting page without success. All prerequisites are installed. Downloaded 'IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe' from MS website - keep getting message: 'Internet Explorer did not finish installing'. EI11 just will not install. Using Win 7 sp1 x64.

Run a CMD window using RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
type SFC /SCANNOW
wait and reboot as directed

RUN THE MICROSOFT FIX IT TOOL:

Run the Microsoft Internet Explorer Uninstall Repair Tool from HERE.
Reboot as directed
Read and follow the steps in UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION OF IE above
Reboot as directed
Download the current Internet Explorer from Microsoft HERE and install it.

Before you install Internet Explorer 11, you should:

Check vendor support for updated functionality. Check whether third-party vendors have new versions or updates to necessary add-ons, apps, or code libraries.
Choose the right version of Internet Explorer. IE11 comes pre-installed on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 or you can download it for Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) from the Internet Explorer Downloads site.
